These feature typically 800 lots of 17th, 18th Century and later furniture, paintings and watercolours, porcelain and Worcester porcelain, objets d’art, jewellery, glassware, silver, silver plate and other metal ware


You may view in person on the day before the sale from 2pm till 8pm.

An illustrated colour catalogue is available via post (£6) and online two weeks prior to the sale. The online catalogue can be searched by lot number, category or keyword.

You may view in person on the day before the sale from 2pm till 6pm. There is no catalogue but staff can advise you of lot descriptions.



Please register in the office for a bidding number. When you have finished bidding, please proceed to the office to pay for your items.


If you are unable to attend the sale in person, bids may be left with the auctioneers. These will be executed as cheaply as other bids and reserves allow.

Please complete a commission bid form, giving the maximum hammer price that you are prepared to pay on your chosen lots.  If you are emailing us your bid simply send your full conatct details including landline telephone number, and again, the maximum hammer price you wish to pay.  Bids should be telephoned through or handed in by 5.00pm the day prior to the sale. 

A successful bid is confirmed by invoice.

TELEPHONE BIDS (Fine Art Sales only)

These must be booked in advance. Please contact us with your postal address, contact telephone numbers and the lots you wish to bid on before sale day.

Telephone bids are subject to availability and are normally not available for lots estimated at less than £300.

On sale day we will telephone you a few minutes before your lot and talk you through the bidding. Typically the auctioneer will start by taking bids in the room and then invite those bidding by telephone to bid.

ONLINE BIDDING  (Fine Art Sales only)

You can register to bid 'live' for our Fine Art Sales by visiting, selecting Philip Serrell Auctioneers and then submitting you personal details, complete with credit/debit card information.  Registration for online bidding closes at 10am on the morning of the sale.  You can also leave commission bids via this method, however that closes at 5pm the day before the sale.

Please note that if you're a successful online bidder we are permitted to debit the card you registered with.  If you registered with a credit card, you will incur a additional 3%.  It is also your responsibility to deal with collection of lots.



We will not accept any bids unless a landline telephone number is given.
