EVER POPULAR ROYAL WORCESTER PORCELAIN

As is ever the way, porcelain in general – but pieces from the local Royal Worcester factory in particular - was eagerly sought after in this auction.  Leading the way was a rare set of three Royal Worcester limited edition framed porcelain plaques, painted with fruit by H Ayrton, which sold for £7,000.  The sale also included a good collection of Royal Worcester porcelain painted by Charles Baldwyn, who was well known for his pieces decorated with swans on a powder blue ground.  A pair of such vases realised £6,500, whilst a similar single spill vase, some six inches in height, realised £2,100.
