AUCTION NEWS

We have now had one Interiors (General) sale, and one Fine Art and Antiques sale, since our re-opening post lockdown.  These have both had very encouraging results from the perspective of the current auction market.  It is now possible to bid on-line for all our sales, and we have received very positive feedback from bidders using the Easyliveauction.com platform, as well as the-saleroom.com.  There have been some entries from the residual contents of Brays department store in both sales, and there is more to include in our sale on Thursday, 23 July.  Sale catalogues are uploaded to both platforms, as well as to our website.

Fine Art and Antiques, Thursday 9th July

There were a number of highlights in the July antiques sale.  A Patek Phillipe Calatrava 18 carat white gold perpetual calendar watch sold for £26,000 and a Patek Philippe Calatrava 18 carat white gold watch and bracelet sold for £12,000.

Royal Worcester vases are always well sought after, and a pair with painted panels of cattle by John Stinton sold for £19,000, and a pierced and reticulated pedestal vase with gilt handles from 1920, signed by George Owen, sold for £17,000.

There was much interest in a 19th century mahogany cased mantle clock, by Vulliamy of London, which sold for £7,500.

We were pleased to be asked to sell a pair of oil paintings by Braaq, Brian Shields, Figures in a Park and an Industrial Winter Landscape with Figures, which together made over £8,500.  Furniture by Mouseman, Robert Thompson of Kilburn, is always popular, and an oak dresser sold for £2,600.

NB - Our next Antiques sale will be Thursday, 10th September – not 6th August.

SALEROOM BLOG

The safety of staff and visitors to the saleroom is obviously of paramount importance in the current situation.  Perspex screens have been constructed around the desks in the office, staff are now wearing face masks or visors when dealing with anyone from outside the office bubble, and we are asking saleroom visitors to leave their contact details and use the hand sanitizer provided upon arrival.
